Know Your Network – Connecting Employability in the Borders

The Borders Career Collective brought together practitioners from across the Scottish Borders for a unique opportunity to network, learn more about available support and services, and help shape better outcomes for people seeking and sustaining employment in the region.
A first of its kind for the region, the Know Your Network event was a practical, collaborative session designed for frontline staff and support teams working in employability and third sector organisations.

The event was facilitated by BBC journalist David Fergusson, with several keynote speakers, a series of table hops, (each showcasing a regional partner or third sector project) and 18 thematic discussions. We had over 200 practitioners attend on the day, including all the DYW Borders staff. Attendees reported they were able to make new connections, share knowledge and feedback that the thematic discussions and ‘table hops’ would strengthen collaboration across the staff and services.

The Programme Director co-led a discussion on Employer Engagement with the Borders Chamber of Commerce membership manager. The event was opened by Claire Renton, Deputy Director of Employability, Scottish Government and closed by James Russell, Senior Director of Transformation, Skills Development Scotland and the co-chair of the national Careers Services Collaborative
